While staying with another person with CIRS, I discovered a routine for keeping a bathroom clean and dry. Well, first it needs to be clean (see video above) and keeping it dry is important also (also see video) but another way is to leave the shower door open after a shower and run a dehumidifier for a short time, perhaps 40 minutes along with the bathroom exhaust fan. It’s important for the exhaust to be installed so it vents to the outside rather than into the roof space where it can cause problems.
I also discovered that that squeegeeing (yes, it’s a word) the shower glass down with a window squeeger (not sure if it’s a word), the water scraping part, can leave the shower dry, shiny and lint free; therefore, helping to keep it mould free.
Living with CIRS or having an illness where you are sensitive to small amounts of mould can be challenging. Luckily with a quick routine each time a person uses the shower, mould can be prevented so long as there’s no leaking plumbing or water seeping under tiles.
